Be Yourself! at Shady’s Tap Room

A traditional pub for all to gather, converse and enjoy.

The tradition of Public Houses (“Pubs”) has been carried on for more than a thousand years. Beginning with a welcoming gathering place, the diverse members of a community would come together to discuss work, exchange life stories and share in a little social merriment and “brew.”

The result… a comfortable and fun setting in which to enjoy Shady’s Tap Room guests and services. From select pub cuisine to an assortment of micro brews and beverages, Shady’s has something for everyone.

So stop by, gather with friends and above all… Be Yourself! We are committed to seeing our guests leave a little happier and including acquaintances as regular friends. Until we see you (again), Cheers!

Founded by lifelong Columbia Township residents Pat & Brenda Collins in 2012, the restaurant was acquired by Michigan Restauranteur Johnnie DeAngelis in 2019.

EXOTIC BEERS, COOL COCKTAILS & LOCAL FRIENDS

Public Houses – better known as “Pubs” – date back more than 1,000 years.

In many places, especially villages throughout Europe, Pubs were regarded as the focal point of the community. These “Ale Houses” created meeting sites where villagers could socialize and arrange to work together to help their communities. In fact, the second public building in America was a Pub.

The Village of Brooklyn (formerly “Swainsville”) was founded by Calvin Swain in 1832. In 1835, the name was changed to “Brooklyn,” following a town meeting vote.

We don’t know if this event took place in Swainsville as a result of opinions being expressed at a public house. We can, however, con rm our belief that this community should refrain from any similar initiatives to again rename the Village… to “Shadyville!”

BEYOND THE BLARNEY STONE

The future is not ours to know, and it may never be—
so let us live and give our best and give it lavishly!

Shady’s Tap Room emerged with Irish merriment and a plan to compliment the fine businesses in the greater Brooklyn area. Our community is fortunate to have a combination of many diverse businesses and miles of beautiful landscape and lakes, which define our Irish Hills. Our businesses range from those small and unique to those larger and geared toward the sports enthusiast, like MIS. The specialty restaurants and bars in the area bring visitors closer to the people who live here and express the passion for community that exists here. Shady’s Tap Room has been carefully designed to express yet another unique identity… one that combines with the overall offerings of the area. We hope to see you around the community!
